Trendway Named Veteran-Friendly Employer By The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency
HOLLAND, Mich – February 1, 2019 – Trendway today announced its selection by the Michigan Veteran’s Affairs Agency (MVAA) as a 2018 bronze-level, veteran-friendly employer. The recognition is based on Trendway’s commitment to military veteran recruitment, training and retention practices. The MVAA is the state’s central coordinating agency, providing support, care, advocacy and service to veterans and their families.
Trendway currently has 14 veterans serving the company in numerous capacities and is led by veteran chairman and CEO Don Heeringa. “As a veteran-owned company, Trendway values and honors the service of all military and seeks to employ veterans in numerous areas of the company whenever possible,” said veteran Don Heeringa, Trendway chairman and CEO.
Heeringa was drafted into the United States Army after college and served in Germany for two years.
“My time spent in the Army was a valuable experience that taught me how to work with all types of people which gave me a better understanding of how to lead and inspire individuals,” said Heeringa.
In 2018, Trendway received the 2018 Veteran Business of the year by National Veteran Business Development Council, the nation’s leading third-party certification program for veteran-owned businesses. Additionally, Trendway was named Michigan Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.
Trendway is certified as a Veteran-Owned Small Business by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and was voted Top Veteran Owned Business by U.S. Veterans Magazine.
